Master Loose Leash Walking! Dog Leash Training Classes – Taking the Pull out of the Dog Walk.

The focus of this class is polite walking on leash, particularly in the presence of distractions. Loose leash walking, leave it, and go for it will be practiced with various distractions, like other dogs, people, places and things. This will give guardians more control when walking their dogs in their neighborhood or around town. This class consists of a series of 3 sessions, one hour each in length, and an optional fieldtrip as a 4th session based on what students want and what they feel comfortable with, this class is only $65 Plus recieve a *10% discount!. The course goals are as follows.

Course Goals

Situational Awareness
Students will understand the importance of and learn to always be aware of one’s surroundings, and also be ready to respond proactively as needed to keep dogs and humans safe and comfortable.

Work at the Dog’s Level
Students will understand the importance of and be able to set reasonable expectations for and assess their dog’s behavior and progress based on one’s own skills, the dog’s experience, and the surrounding situation.
 
Reinforcement & Motivation
Students will understand what is reinforcing for their dog and to be able to use this knowledge to affect positive training outcomes.

Handling & Focus
Students will be able to achieve and maintain control of dogs through safe, positive leash handling skills and positive methods of focusing dogs’ attention.

Reward Removal (Negative Punishment)
Students will understand the importance of and be able to keep their dogs from being reinforced for undesired behavior.

Problem Solving
Students will be able to apply class learning to problem solve positive approaches to real life situations.

Proper use of training equipment
Students will learn the proper use of leashes, collars and harnesses.  We do not recommend or use prong collars, choke chains and do not allow these in class for safety reasons.
